Services And Repairs You May Need
No matter what you drive, you’re going to need brake services and repairs. Your auto’s braking system requires hydraulic brake fluid to ensure your ability to stop. In addition to keeping a check on the fluid level, we’ll need to perform a brake fluid change at the intervals recommended by the automaker. This involves draining the brake fluid and replacing it. To eliminate any remaining trash or residue, your automobile may need a brake fluid flush. We force fluid through the system in this process to be sure that all lingering contaminants are eliminated. Beyond routine preventive maintenance service, our most common repair is brake pad change. Most pads are made of metal. Though durable, they eventually wear down, and you’ll need new ones. Another frequent repair is to the brake rotors. Excessive heat can cause them to warp, requiring replacement. If you continue to drive with brake pads that have worn away, exposed metal can cut into the rotor surface. In most cases, we can resurface or “turn” them. Severe cases, however, can lead to replacement. If you’re noticing a spongy brake pedal, longer stopping distances, or a drip/puddle of reddish fluid, we’ll need to check your braking system for a leak. This can occur due to a cracked master cylinder, a bad cylinder at a wheel, or a hole in a brake line or poor connection. A burning odor prompts us to assess several possible situations, including a stuck brake caliper.
